How a Root Canal Can Save Your Tooth

Cavities come from tooth decay, which is a bacterial infection. These bacteria will continue to spread to nearby tissue, meaning the cavity will grow and extend. If it reaches the pulp and damages the tissues there, including your nerves and blood vessels, it can lead to the loss of the tooth.

Furthermore, bacterial infections can also form in the gums, and this can cause the gums to recede. If the infection damages too much gum line or bone tissue, the tissue of the jaw that holds your teeth in place, then your teeth can loosen and fall out.

When this happens, a restorative treatment is needed to replace the tooth. All of this can be avoided by simply seeing the dentist before the condition reaches this point.

The Root Canal Procedure

Dr. David and Dr. Ajmo will remove the decayed tissue, stop the infection, and clean any tartar and plaque from your teeth. The removed tissue will then be replaced by a tooth-colored filling, which is safe, stunningly natural-looking, and long-lasting.

If the tooth decay has spread too far into the tooth, it may need to be extracted. In this case, we will recommend a restorative treatment, such as a dental implant or a dental bridge.
